“Depravity cloaked in niceness and old-timey vibes and descriptions of ‘family-friendly’ is the worst kind of depravity because it doesn’t just draw in the people seeking something edgy or rebellious,” said The Danbury Institute’s Sharayah Colter. “It sideswipes the innocent minded who didn’t have any inclination toward knowing more worldly things until it was placed in front of them. Very sad and actually very dangerous.”

“Many have prophesied the emergence of a False Church. It’s arriving right on schedule. As Chip & Joanna Gaines normalize gay marriage — while claiming this is somehow Christian — so the Church of England officially opens the door to the same thing,” said author and radio host Eric Metaxas. “We must love those with whom we differ on these vital issues, but the Church does NOT have the authority to change ancient historic biblical teaching.”

Former Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis said the controversy shows why “Trump’s IVF EO is so dangerous.”

Denny Burk published an article in World Magazine titled, “Sodomy on the frontier,” in which he wrote, “Vague messages on social media about unity and love and not being judgmental are no substitute for the articulation of clear biblical conviction.”

On X, Burk drew attention to a 2014 profile of Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs in the Dallas Morning News that described Riggs and Hanna’s surrogacy journey. One section of the article recounts that the men viewed gay porn so they could produce sperm samples for the woman who would be their surrogate.

“This is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever read,” said Burk in a post quoting that portion of the article.

Clear Truth Media author Lindsay Whitlow wrote the Gaines an open letter in which she said she became a huge fan of “Fixer Upper” after having her first child. “A generation of men and women are compelled by your kindness and love for people. But kindness is not kind at all if it’s telling a lie,” said Whitlow.

Apologist Dr. Frank Turek posted Whitlow’s open letter, saying, “They’ve never been afraid of a fixer-upper.”

LifeSiteNews published an article titled, “Chip and Joanna Gaines cave in to LGBT agenda, abandon Biblical marriage on new show.” The Family Policy Institute of Washington posted the article, calling the Gaines’ actions “a sad reversal from Scripture.”

The Daily Wire’s Megan Basham put some of the blame at the feet of the church the Gaines reportedly go to. “The fact that their church, @AntiochWaco has said not a word speaks volumes,” she said. “This is a moment for their pastor, @Jimmy_Seibert, to stand up and offer a clea
