Deion Sanders Named All-Time First-Team Cornerback
Also on the AP All-Time All-America roster is former Florida State player Deion Sanders. The cornerback was named a unanimous All-American twice, in 1987 and 1988. As a senior, Sanders had five interceptions for the Seminoles, returning two of those for touchdowns. That year he also led college football in punt-return yards, with 503.

Sanders, who was picked fifth overall in the 1989 NFL Draft, played on both sides of the football—and also played pro baseball. Known as Prime Time during his playing days, Sanders is now “Coach Prime” at the University of Colorado. The 58-year-old molds young men’s character as well as their athletic skills.
Coach Prime has faced backlash for praying with players in the locker room. But he remains vocal about his faith, speaking about Jesus during press conferences and posting encouraging words online.
Last fall Sanders told reporters, “I’m not going to be ashamed of the gospel. That’s what my Bible tells me, and I’m going to proclaim my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, wherever I want to.” The coach has credited God with saving him from suicide and healing him physically.
Last month, Sanders revealed that doctors removed his bladder after finding an aggressive, malignant tumor. The coach and Pro Football Hall-of-Famer said he’s now cancer-free, telling reporters, “You have no idea how good God has been to me.”
