On Aug. 24, comedian John Crist (41), who is best known for his clean comedy that often pokes fun at stereotypes in the Christian church, posted to social media images of his engagement to Lydia Fielder (28).
Crist grew up in Atlanta as a pastor’s kid in a large family and was homeschooled. In 2009, a few years after graduating college, Crist started his stand-up comedy career by performing at open mic nights, clubs, and churches. Today, Crist is a household name among Christians and regularly sells out his comedy tours.
Crist has opened for Jeff Foxworthy, Tim Hawkins, and Dave Chapelle and has appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Fielder is a reporter and anchor for WSMV4 News in Nashville, Tennessee. According to her bio, Fielder’s most notable coverage throughout her career has included the “federal Josh Duggar child sexual abuse material trial.”

In 2019, right before Netflix was scheduled to release his special, “I Ain’t Prayin’ for That,” allegations surfaced that Crist had engaged in sexual misconduct and the harassment of five women, leading the streaming giant to pull the special. Crist canceled all his remaining 2019 tour dates and announced that he would be “postpon(ing) all future commitments.”
