Jenkins said that he is in discussions with potential distributors and does not yet have a release date for the film. The team is “still putting the finishing touches on the movie right now.”
“It’s just really beautiful,” he said. “It’s got great music. It’s got a great cast, great story. The animation is absolutely phenomenal.”
Jenkins then allowed fans to see a scene from the highly anticipated Season 6 of “The Chosen,” which depicts the day of Jesus’ arrest and crucifixion. At the time of the livestream, the season only had seven days left of filming.
The first six episodes of Season 6 are projected to come out in the fall of 2026, Jenkins said. “Now, why is it taking so long? Well, this is the biggest season we’ve ever done, it’s the longest we’ve ever filmed, and we want to release all of this in as many languages as possible at the same time,” said Jenkins. “So the language translation takes a very long time. Now there’s another reason why this is taking [so] long…the size of the season and the size of the movie.”
The Season 6 finale will be a full-length feature film and currently still requires $9 million to be fully funded.
The budget for Season 6 ended up being much larger than “The Chosen” team initially projected. In addition to the fact that they filmed part of the season in Italy, “there’s a lot of visual effects, and the story that we’re telling is very expansive,” Jenkins explained. “This is not just the story of the crucifixion. This is the story of humanity.”
“And one of the things that we do in this movie is we portray not only the crucifixion itself, but the need for the crucifixion,” he said, “the history of humanity that shows why the crucifixion took place, and what the crucifixion was in a response to.”

The Come and See Foundation could have refused to approve the larger budget, said Jenkins, but when leaders read the scripts, their response was, “We have to do this. This is the opportunity to go all in. This is an opportunity to create a cultural, global moment. This movie has to be the biggest and best version of this story that’s ever been put on film.”
Jenkins then showed a scene from Season 6 that depicts the Apostle John talking to Malchus and to Judas after Jesus has been arrested. Jenkins said the scene was “a rough cut that we assembled as a gift to you as a thank you for your participation in this great work that we’re doing.”
