In the sneak peek Jenkins showed, Elizabeth Tabish goes across a huge chasm in a harness by herself. Calling the scene “really precious,” Jenkins explained that Tabish is “someone who’s really struggled with fear just in the last chunk of her life.”
“So this is a clip of her doing something she was absolutely terrified to do,” said Jenkins, “and Bear really gently but lovingly pushed her to do something that she’s scared to do, and [it] just turned out really beautifully.”
“The Chosen in the Wild” will come out on Prime Video next year around spring time and will be six episodes.
A Miniseries on Joseph and a Movie About David
Noting that he had announced a miniseries on the life of Joseph last year at ChosenCon, Dallas Jenkins mentioned that Prime Video would be financing that particular project.
The director reiterated something he has said before, which is that he has “the final creative say on every project that 5&2 Studios does, so you never have to worry about that.” Every single project in the Chosen universe, including the shows he was discussing on the livestream, “go under our theological review.”
However, something different about the eight-episode miniseries “Joseph of Egypt” is that Prime Video is financing it, instead of the Come and See Foundation.
“How awesome is it that this crowdfunded show that we did,” said Jenkins, has “gotten to a place where the show has grown so much that…Prime Video has stepped up and said, ‘We will finance Joseph of Egypt, and we will put it on our streaming platform, but you still get to control the content.’”
Viewers then got a behind-the-scenes look at the set of “Joseph of Egypt” as seen during the first couple days of filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The miniseries is “the first live-action expansion of the Chosen universe.” Notably, the production designer for the miniseries is Giles Masters, who is known for his work on films such as “The Mummy,” “The Mummy Returns,” and “Stargate.”
The last new project separate from “The Chosen” that Jenkins gave viewers a sneak peek at was a film about David. “It’s been a work in progress for a while,” Jenkins said. He shared that his wife, Amanda, whom he described as “a very, very hard critic,” read the script for the movie and called it “absolutely fantastic.”
