3. Discipleship is the key to student ministry.

Next, realize that Generation Z wants to be discipled. Asking a young person if they’d like to meet once a week for discipleship is a big win. Students are looking for someone to help them grow in Christ. They want help answering the questions they’re afraid to ask.

Gen Z faces extreme pressure and stress. Their generation battles depression, anxiety, perfectionism, etc. They feel like the whole world is on their shoulders. They don’t worry about the future; they’re concerned about today. So walking beside students through discipleship is pivotal.

4. Your youth volunteers are the G.O.A.T.

Last but not least… When it comes to youth helpers, I’m spoiled. I have amazing volunteers who help teach and reach students. I want to say this to all my youth pastor friends. Spoil and go above and beyond for your volunteers. They’re on the frontlines of ministry for you daily!

I’m always looking for creative ways to thank volunteers for sharing their time and heart. If you’re a youth worker in a local church, realize you’re the G.O.A.T.
