On Wednesday morning (Sept. 17), Franklin Graham addressed comments made by the alleged shooter of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk regarding the shooter’s motive.
Last Wednesday (Sept. 10), 22-year-old Tyler Robinson allegedly fatally shot Kirk, 31, while Kirk was speaking during his The American Comeback Tour stop at Utah Valley University.
“According to court documents,” Graham posted, “Tyler Robinson’s parents said that they asked their son why he shot Charlie Kirk, to which he replied, ‘there is too much evil and the guy spreads too much hate.’”
Graham told his social media followers, “The Bible tells us, ‘Woe to those who call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20).’ Jesus Himself calls Satan ‘a murderer from the beginning … and the father of lies (John 8:44).’”
Franklin Graham: ‘Speaking What the Bible Says Is Not Hate’
“We live in a world that is warped by sin, and so many people are deceived,” Graham continued. “Let me be clear—speaking what the Bible says is not hate.”
“Charlie Kirk wasn’t hating anyone when he answered question after question on campus after campus with truth from the Word of God,” said Graham. “Life-altering, soul-saving truth that hasn’t changed since the beginning of time.”
“Who spewed hate?” Graham asked. “The shooter.”
“All Charlie Kirk did was love his Lord Jesus Christ and love young people enough to give them the truth, even about hard subjects like gender, marriage, abortion, and much more,” Graham concluded.
On Tuesday (Sept. 16), Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray charged Robinson with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, obstruction of justice for moving a firearm, obstruction of justice for disposing of clothing, witness tampering for telling his roommate to delete text messages, witness tampering for directing his roommate to stay quiet, and a violent offense committed in the presence of a child.
