Amy Duggar King has a new memoir in which she shares about her personal experiences growing up in a reality television star family. King, the niece of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, was a regular feature on “19 Kids and Counting” and its spinoffs.

King’s book, “Holy Disruptor: Shattering the Shiny Facade by Getting Louder With the Truth,” is set to release on Oct. 14 and explores King’s perspective on “the manipulation and abuse hidden behind the traditional Christian values” of the Duggar family.

Through the years, several scandals surrounding the Duggar family have centered on Josh Duggar, the eldest of the 19 siblings. In 2015, it became publicly known that as a teen in 2002-2003, Josh had allegedly sexually molested four of his own sisters, along with a fifth victim.

Also in 2015, Josh’s name was revealed as part of a data breach of Ashley Madison, an online dating site marketed to users looking to cheat on their spouses. Josh allegedly paid $986.76 for two subscriptions beginning in 2013. The subscriptions were allegedly canceled shortly after the allegations that Josh had molested five victims came to light in 2015.

In 2021, Josh was convicted of one count of receiving child sex abuse material (CSAM) and one count of possessing CSAM. The charge of receiving CSAM was later vacated by the court.

Josh is currently serving a prison sentence of 151 months—that is, more than 12 years.

In an interview with People, King recounted confronting Josh about his alleged sexual abuse of his own sisters and a babysitter.

King said that she asked Josh why he never tried to harm her and recalled that Josh indicated that he “knew better” than to try it.

“It was the creepiest smile,” said King. “In that moment, I just looked at him, and I was just like, ‘I don’t know you at all.’”

“It’s that realization that all the times he’s texted, and laughed, and we’ve sent memes to each other, and he called, and we had double dates, and all the things,” King went on to say. “I’m like, ‘I don’t know you at all.’”

“Very sad and terrifying,” she added.
