The only difference between anger and danger is the letter “D.” This is especially true for an angry pastor. Over the past three decades, I have encountered several pastors with anger issues. The stories never ended well.

Pause and pay attention to God’s grace in your life. That is the pathway to joy. That is the motivating power of grace.

If I know anything, I know that leadership is hard. I have a hard time leading myself, let alone being a catalyst for others to grow, get plugged in and develop. Sometimes I wonder, “Why am I qualified or called to be a leader?”

Pursue these qualities in your own life and encourage them in others. Pray for yourself and others. Pray that you will build up the church as faithful and patient members who attend, encourage, confront, pray, and serve.

Even though it's not easy, you can defeat depression. But you don’t need a quick encouragement. You need a God who walks through pain with you.

I have learned that taking an extended break each year is fruitful for me, for my team, for the church, and for the future.

Natural growth teaches us that coming into maturity depends not only on the child, but the family as well. And the neighborhood. And the society.

Have we made the Proverbs 31 woman into a trophy wife of impossible standards? Now, as a wife and mother, I feel that the Proverbs 31 woman is wielded as a weapon against me more than ever.
