5. Missions & Service
Next, consider how you can offer kids a chance to think outside the church walls. Can you invite a missionary to share? Can you partner with a local mission? Check out my favorite Pinterest-inspired outreach ideas here.
6. Coloring & Activity Pages
Younger children (2nd grade and younger) love to color. Older kids (3rd to 5th grade) enjoy crossword puzzles, word searches, word scrambles, and brain teasers. When we use these, they always correspond to the day’s lesson. What I love about this learning experience is that it provides a quieter spot for children who need that.
7. Drama (Skits, Puppets, Pantomime)
Give children opportunities to express themselves in creative ways. Provide puppets, props and skits. Then let kids act out the Bible story or a real-life situation. Or provide supplies for children to create their own puppets, props and skits. You’ll not only see their creative side, but their personalities will shine!
8. Object Lessons
Finally, realize that sometimes an object lesson is the best way to bring home a point. On the Sunday referenced above, we used one of my favorite object lessons. The children were mesmerized. Great options are available to complement many Bible stories. Check out my favorite Pinterest-inspired object lessons here.
Keep the conversation going! What learning experience or activity station would you add to the list?
