Brian Welch, guitarist for the Grammy Award-winning, multiplatinum nu metal band Korn, posted a clip Monday, Sept. 22, of Erika Kirk forgiving the man who assassinated her husband, Charlie Kirk.
Welch commented that Erika Kirk’s forgiveness of Charlie Kirk’s murderer “moved me deeply” and that her actions demonstrated a quality that Welch believes has been lacking for a long time in “many right-wing Christian leaders and followers.”

Brian Welch: ‘Should I Get My Hopes Up?’
Brian Welch regularly shares publicly about his Christian faith and has been open about the remarkable story of how Jesus saved him from a “crippling” drug addiction. After a supernatural encounter with God, Welch got rid of all his drugs and quit playing in Korn in 2005.
Welch rejoined Korn eight years later, something he believes God led him to do. He sees the time he was away from the band as a time of growth so he could be strong enough to return and share Christ in that environment. Welch at times shares his views on different topics, such as the criticisms he receives from “religious people” and his belief that there is no one “look” all Christians need to have. On Sunday, he posted a video offering some thoughts on 1 Corinthians 6:17.

In his Monday post, Welch shared his perspective on politics and what he has observed from certain Christians. “I’ve never been able to stomach politics,” he said. “After more than five decades on this earth, I’ve seen so much corruption on both sides, eating away at unity like a cancer.”
“One thing I’ve never understood is how so many right-wing Christian leaders and followers can completely set aside the teachings of Christ,” said Welch, giving as examples of those teachings “to walk in love, kindness, and to forgive all, even our enemies.”
“This moved me deeply yesterday, seeing how Erika has chosen to live out what I’ve been hoping political Christians would display for years,” said Korn's Brian Welch. “Loving...all men and all women, even our enemies!” Click to Post
