Critics Push Back on SBC’s ‘Road to Orlando’ Feature of David Uth Over LGBTQ+ Ministry Stance

A clip posted by the X account The Dissenter in June 2024 shows Uth explaining why the church allows people who are not Christians to serve in some places in the church. “Why do we say people who are not yet convinced can serve?” Uth asked, noting that some places of service, like teaching and leadership are reserved for “a full, mature follower of Christ.”

“But we have places, all kinds of places, for people to serve because we think when they get around us, they’re going to want to know more about the Jesus we love,” he said. “And they’re gonna fall in love with him.”
