Downs, who is known as the “queen of fun,” mentioned the word “fun” multiple times in her post about Jaeger. Across her ministry, Downs has presented “fun” as a way people experience belonging, joy, and connection with God and others.
“It hasn’t been a perfect 9 months. We’ve worked through lots already and will continue to,” she observed. “He’s dating a human. So am I. But God has been kind to us as we navigate our humanness and learn each other and care for each other’s wounds- old or new.”
“I never thought I’d do a hard launch or a ‘meet my boyfriend’ post- but mostly I’m so happy dating this man that I can barely keep it to myself,” Downs said. “Clearly- I can no longer keep it to myself. And together we decided it’s a good time to share with y’all. So yes. This is a hard launch. Meet my boyfriend JW. He’s my funny and favorite Valentine.”
A bio for Jaeger says that he played in church when he was young, that he served in the U.S. Army as a bandsman, and that he has played with artists including Toby Keith, Katharine McPhee, and Elevation Worship. In a June 2025 Instagram post, Jaeger thanked Brandon Lake, Phil Whickham, CAIN, and Summer Worship Nights, saying, “What an AMAZING kick off to the Summer!…you guys sure know how to make this DJ feel welcome!”
Jaeger also posted on Monday about his relationship with Downs. “Can I tell you about the most beautiful, kind, gentle spirited, lover of ALL adventure, forgiving, grace filled, hard working, biggest smile that any human has ever seen woman?” he said. “Annie, meeting you and falling in love has been the greatest thing I’ve ever done. It’s the greatest adventure I’ve ever taken.”
“You’ve shown me the hands and feet of Jesus. You’ve made me laugh til we CRY,” said Jaeger. “You’ve loved me at my lowest. And believed in me and us with each sunrise. I don’t know how I got this lucky. But boy, do I count my blessings.”
