In January, Minaj appeared alongside President Trump at a press event and said, “I will say that I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change.” That same day, Minaj touted her Trump “gold card.” The program is an initiative intended to fast-track U.S. citizenship for wealthy immigrants.
Minaj was born in Trinidad and Tobago but spent much of her childhood in New York.
At the Grammys in February, Minaj was the butt of a joke because of her support of President Trump. She responded in a social media post, saying, “As they do their ritual tonight, God almighty will reveal himself to them. The ritual will backfire on them. God will not be mocked. Blessed is the MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.”
“Every tongue that rises up against me in judgement shall be condemned & put to shame,” she added. In a separate post, Minaj took a jab at Trevor Noah, who made the joke about her. Minaj said that Noah “refuses to come out the closet when everyone in the industry knows his boyfriend.”
Last week, President Trump declared, “I love Nick Minaj!”

“She’s so beautiful. Her skin’s so beautiful,” he added. “I said, ‘Nicki, you’re so beautiful.’” After making a joke about Minaj’s signature long nails, Trump said, “She was so beautiful and so great. And she gets it, you know, more importantly, frankly. She gets it.”
