“That was with such a purity that it was fantastic,” said judge Lionel Richie, who believes the season’s winner is going to “boil down to just uniqueness of style because the talent is across the board. That was so spectacular.”

“Give it more of everything you have,” he encouraged Harper.

“It was just perfection to me,” said judge Luke Bryan. “It roped me in. Everything about that, I totally bought into it, heart, mind, and soul.”

“I mean, just, way to go,” he added.

“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest spoke to Harper after her performance and noted that her family would close their shows with Tomlin’s song. Mentioning that Harper’s family was there, Seacrest asked, “What was special about the performance of that song here tonight?”

“An opportunity to give an invitation on this platform is incredible,” said Harper through tears.

She headed the caption of an Instagram post asking people to vote for her with the words “to God be the glory.” The Top 12 were going to be announced Monday night, but Seacrest apparently shocked the judges and contestants when he announced at the end of the evening that the news would be delayed until the following week in order to ensure that the votes were counted accurately.

In another post, Harper said of the evening, “Another night of worship and I’m still just…overwhelmed.”

“The Spirit was THICK in that room tonight,” she said. “Thank each and every one of you who took the time to vote for me it truly means more than I could ever put into words. Psalm 34:3 ‘Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together.’”
