He continued, “So I said, ‘What I’m going to do is I’m going to get myself a hard Bible like I had when I was a kid,’ you know?” Pharoah said that when he was a child, he had a blue Bible with his name on the cover.
“I said, ‘I’m gonna get myself a Bible like that,’” recounted Pharoah. Later, Pharoah was performing in Ohio when he encountered Novak.
“There was a pastor that drove all the way from, I think it was Tennessee. And he didn’t get in, but he stayed outside of the show. He came up to me after the show. He goes, ‘God told me to give you this,’” said Pharoah. “It was a blue Bible with my name on it.”
“And here’s the kicker. I can’t make this up. I cannot make this up,” Pharoah added. “The Bible was bookmarked at the exact mark that I stopped reading on my Bible app.”
“I said, alright, ‘I’m gonna get myself together,’” Pharoah remarked, putting his hands together. “So, it’s real, man. The Lord is real. He is real.”
Dylan Novak and Jay Pharoah Have ‘Stayed In Touch,’ Novak Says
In a video response to Pharoah’s interview, celebrity evangelist Dylan Novak said, “I’ve gotten a lot of messages from people asking, ‘Was this you?’”
“Yes, it was me,” Novak said. “I have a full-time ministry. I’ve been doing this for 11 years. It’s called Celebrity Evangelist Ministries. I’m not the celebrity. It’s evangelism to celebrities.”
Novak expressed that people have messaged him asking questions about his “end of the story.”
“So here’s the short version of that,” said Novak. “I was planning this trip to Ohio in September of last year. And I always look at surrounding area events. And I saw that Jay was going to be performing at this comedy club.”
Novak said he prayed, like he often does with different celebrities, “God, is this somebody you want me to go talk to? Is this somebody you want me to go share the gospel with?”
“And I felt very peaceful in my heart and in my spirit to go talk with Jay,” said Novak. “There was no megaphone from heaven, so to speak. It was simply obeying the Great Commission.”
