When the WHO officially declared a pandemic, large gatherings were suspended, major sporting events were canceled, and school classes moved online. Ministry organizations and denominations also had to make big decisions, including the Southern Baptist Convention, which canceled its 2020 Annual Meeting due to the “grave emergency” of COVID-19, and the United Methodist Church, which postponed its General Conference and the expected denominational schism.
