3. Mark Wahlberg
Catholic actor Mark Wahlberg recently collaborated with Mel Gibson on the film, “Father Stu,” based on the true story of a boxer who decides to become a Catholic priest. Wahlberg, who financed the movie himself, said he saw creating the film as “an amazing opportunity not only to tell a story but also to do something that would be more focused on my faith and giving back.” He called the movie his “love letter to God” and said that making it strengthened his faith.
Wahlberg has shared that he has changed churches multiple times to avoid receiving movie pitches from his fellow congregants. On Ash Wednesday of 2022, the actor posted a video of himself with the cross-shaped ashes on his forehead and said, “God bless you, and happy start to a Lenten season. Please, make sure we continue to spread love and pray for everybody all over the world.”
