Chip and Joanna Gaines, who became known for their show, “Fixer Upper,” were nominated for Time Magazine’s Top 100 Influential People for 2019. The couple speaks openly about their Christian beliefs; in one interview they explained how marriage has refined their views of who God is.
The Gaines’ have provided a worship space for people experiencing homelessness and have shared with Oprah Winfrey what their relationships with God are like.

The couple has also responded to accusations that they are racist and anti-LGBTQ. Joanna told the Hollywood Reporter, “The accusations that get thrown at you, like you’re a racist or you don’t like people in the LGBTQ community, that’s the stuff that really eats my lunch—because it’s so far from who we really are. That’s the stuff that keeps me up.”
In June 2020, the Gaines family joined former NFL player Emmanuel Acho to educate themselves on how to think about race.
