Dustin Hopkins
Despite an injury to his kicking leg, Dustin Hopkins scored 13 of the L.A. Chargers’ 19 points last night (October 17), including a game-winning OT field goal. Afterward, TV viewers heard the kicker “say thank you to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Hopkins added that he had “so much to be thankful for, apart from football, and so when something like this [victory] happens…I’m blessed either way, but to be on the good side of that feels a lot better.”
Hopkins says his faith helps him keep football in perspective and “remember who I am and Whose I am.” After Monday’s victory, he posted on Instagram, “I’ll remember this [game] for as long as I live!” He included a reference to Colossians 1:15-20 and added: “As a follower of Jesus, in both highs and lows, God is faithful regardless of circumstance because he has already reconciled us to himself through Christ Jesus.”
