As the first overall pick in the 2021 draft, QB Trevor Lawrence went to the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars. In his second NFL season, the former Clemson standout is finding his rhythm—and was recently named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Lawrence, whose wristbands often feature Bible verses, says, “Football’s important to me, but it’s not my life. It’s not the biggest thing in my life. I would say my faith is.” The QB shares that his identity comes from Jesus, so “it really does not matter what people think of me or how good they think I play.”

In a 2019 Sports Illustrated interview, Lawrence said, “I don’t think anyone has abilities for no reason. I don’t think anything is coincidence. God gave me these things for a reason, not just talent on the field, but other opportunities to be a light to people.”
