As Church Leaders has reported, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is very vocal about his faith journey—and almost chose a ministry career over football. “The greatest decision I ever made is to give [Jesus] Lordship over my life,” he says.

During a postgame interview last season, Carr acknowledged that any on-field accolades are “fleeting.” In his journey as a Christian, the QB says God has taken him “to a place that all I want to do is glorify him and wherever he’s going, that’s where I want to go.”

Carr has spoken about listening to and being obedient to the Holy Spirit. Doing that, he says, once helped him prevent three suicides at an event led by his brother, a pastor.
