Regarding the reasoning behind spending millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads, the spokesperson said:

He Gets Us’ goal is to raise the respect and relevancy of Jesus and reintroduce him and his confounding love to everyone. We’re doing this on a scale, and with a level of quality, that is designed to meet people in ways that get attention. This requires investment. We want to reach people where they are; this includes placing the message of Jesus’ love in major media, digital and outdoor channels where we know they will get attention. In doing so, we endeavor to reach people who aren’t being reached in other ways.
