The week of March 27, news broke that Carl Lentz had joined the staff of Pastor Michael Todd’s Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Todd himself is a controversial figure. His sermon illustrations have included cuddling a mannequin and rubbing spit on his brother’s face. More recently, his church’s Easter service drew criticism for being “blasphemous.” Carl Lentz’s hiring has also drawn criticism, which Transformation church leader Tim Ross has downplayed, saying that the news is simply that “somebody got a job.”

Laura Lentz has commented publicly on how her husband’s and the church’s scandals have impacted her, revealing that she has suffered anxiety and PTSD. “It may not mean much to you but this past year was a doozy for our family,” she said in November 2021. “I have dealt with so much personally, I have never experienced anxiety or PTSD until this year!”

In her admonition to her fellow women this week, Laura quoted Luke 6:38: “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over.”

“So whatever you give out, know you will get it back!” said Laura. “That doesn’t just apply to money…WHATEVER you give!” She listed “words of life,” “hate,” “love,” and “time” as examples of resources people can choose to give.

“If you struggle with hate, judgment and anger towards others maybe it’s time to look inside yourself and yourself WHY am i [sic] like this?” she continued. “Oh and you know what else is sad…a lot [judgments] come from pastors [sic] wives, co-pastors, leaders…LETS [sic] DO BETTER LADIES!”

In the caption of her post, Laura Lentz explained that she was not addressing any particular incident, but was referring to comments she had seen about how she dresses, looks, and behaves. “I am not upset or offended by anyone!” she said. “[It] was just an observation [I] have had over past [sic] 3 years ❤️ [I]t’s just a good reminder for all of us! [D]on’t let anyone get under your skin and react !”
