Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President Albert Mohler dedicated his entire Friday edition of “The Briefing” to Trump’s conviction.
“You are looking at a situation in which, honestly, there is no good place, safe place, easy place for the Christian to go in good Christian conscience,” Mohler said in reference to America’s upcoming presidential election. “But as I said, this gives Donald Trump actually a lot of credibility to say to his political base, ‘Look, they came for me. They’re going to come for you.’”
Mohler continued, “And an awful lot of Americans feel that’s pretty much the way it is. Not on the same issues, but when it comes to the disposition of government.”
William Wolfe, executive director for the Center for Baptist Leadership and former Trump appointee, posted, “Christians and conservatives, can you finally see what time it is? Wake up. The world you grew up in no longer exists. Adjust and act accordingly. Starting now.”
Turning Point USA founder and president, Charlie Kirk, told his 2.9 million followers, “I support Trump MORE after this crap. We must win.”
Jack Graham, senior pastor of Dallas-area Prestonwood Baptist Church, posted, “Everyone take a deep breath, pray and ask God to deliver justice to America after the sham of a trial in NYC. There is so much at stake including the future of our legal system and the the constitution of our nation.”
“This verdict stands as the lowest point in our republic’s history,” said author and commentator Eric Metaxas. “But God is not finished with this nation. Keep praying for America.
Author Stephen Altrogge replied to Metaxas, “I dunno slavery was pretty terrible.”
Worship leader Sean Feucht responded to Trump’s guilty verdict by making a call for prayer. “It’s time to Pray more than we’ve done all year,” he posted. “We are not going to let our country go down like this. We’re going to fight but we are going to do it from a place of prayer.”
Pastor and author Lucas Miles said, “Trump is the best option for our country this November. This isn’t a MAGA thing, at this point, it’s an America thing. You don’t have to think Trump is perfect to acknowledge that this is a blatant weaponization of our justice system.”
Dr. Robert Jeffress, the senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas who served on Trump’s faith advisory council during Trump’s four years as president, posted: “@realDonaldTrump was not convicted because of the evidence but because of his rising poll numbers which are scaring the left spitless.”
