In 2020, Candace Cameron Bure and her husband, Valeri, were going through a “rough season” in their marriage, to the point that Bure didn’t know if they were going to make it. The turning point came when the Bures’ three children sat the couple down and the Bures’ son Lev gave them a “45-minute sermon on marriage.”
“I want to brag on Lev for a little bit,” said Bure during the latest episode of her podcast, released on Tuesday, July 8. Bure’s guests for her current season have been Pastor Jonathan Pokluda and her son, Lev Bure.
Bure said that she and her husband went through a “really, really rough season in our marriage in 2020, and that’s when the pandemic hit, and it was going south quickly. And we were like, ‘I don’t know if…we’re gonna make it through.’”
Candace Cameron Bure: Lev Was a Wise, ‘Calm Voice’
As the Bures were struggling in their relationship, at one point, their children, Lev, Maksim and Natasha, asked their parents sit down and talk. “Lev was the one leading the charge,” said Bure. “Val and I sat down, and Lev preached like a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us. Just had his Bible open on the couch and just, just talked about it.”

“I’ll never forget,” said Bure, “because he said, ‘You know, I know I haven’t been married, and I’m just a young kid.'”
Lev continued, “And so it’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the Word of God says.’”
“Wow,” said Pokluda.
“He was just such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it,” said Bure, “and he looked us, you know, straight in the eye, and individually asked me, and then asked Val, ‘You know, have you done everything you can?’”
