3. Create Collective Impact.
Today, we hear much about collective impact — about how much difference we can make doing things together. The Bible translation movement has experienced this to be true over the past few years.Â
Like other missions organizations, many of the Bible translation agencies had worked in isolation for years. While we were all called to a certain mission, we nonetheless did not partner in any strategic and impactful way. In 2010 that changed when several organizations came together to evaluate and grieve over the immense remaining global need for Scripture in a language and form people can clearly understand. Thus was born illumiNations, an alliance of now more than a dozen partners who work together to see all people have access to God’s Word in their language. The goal is that by 2033, 95% of the world’s population will have access to a full Bible in a language they understand best and that 100% of the world’s population will have access to a New Testament.
Only as we pool our resources and efforts can we see big dreams happen!
Collaborating for Greater Impact
We see God do remarkable things through our efforts when we work together. When we don’t, we neither get to see Him multiply our loaves and fishes, nor do we fully honor His image in all His people. At the end of the day, we are always better together, regardless of whether our mission is Bible translation, discipleship, a pursuit of justice, urban transformation, or any other form of bringing God’s kingdom and peace to this earth. Collaboration is a critical way we can move forward in today’s world that needs the love and hope of Jesus!
