Bob Stine, former president of the Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention, will be required to answer questions in court in September after police in Madison, Wisconsin, recommended he be charged with sexual assault.

The SBC’s Abuse Reform Implementation Task Force released an update Thursday indicating that the “ministry check” website will launch with a more restrictive definition of “credibly accused” than originally announced.

Mark Rivera, a former lay pastor at the center of several sexual abuse allegations in a conservative Anglican denomination, pled guilty to one count of felony criminal sexual assault. He was sentenced to 6 years.

Robert Shiflet has been released on good behavior after serving 25 months behind bars for his repeated sexual abuse of two girls. Shiflet’s release came as a surprise to his victims, who were not given advance notice.

Licensed therapist and spiritual director Chuck DeGroat and host Jason Daye look at how narcissism in church leaders has been addressed in recent history, especially the past few years. Then, they explore how the local church can minister to survivors of emotional and spiritual abuse.

After years of delay, Southern Baptists passed a series of reforms aimed at addressing abuse in the denomination. The plan for reforms, however, did not address who would pay for them over the long haul. 

On Friday, SBC President Bart Barber took to Twitter to respond to criticism regarding the latest developments in the process to reform the denomination in light of its clergy sex abuse crisis. 

In a recent Instagram post, Bobbie Houston revealed that while eight witnesses testified against him, Brian Houston himself was the only witness to speak for the defense.
