Actor and conservative Christian Dean Cain is encouraging people to follow his example of serving his country by joining the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. In a video posted to social media Tuesday (Aug. 5), the 59-year-old who portrayed Superman said he’s “a sworn law enforcement officer” and “felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it.”
Cain touted benefits available from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which aims to hire up to 14,000 new ICE agents. These include a $50,000 signing bonus, “enhanced retirement benefits,” special pay for certain positions, and student-loan forgiveness (“legally,” Cain added, laughing). Applicants don’t need an undergraduate degree and can “get to work right away,” according to Cain.
The ICE hiring campaign follows the signing of President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which earmarked $75 billion to immigration enforcement. On July 29, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said America is in “a defining moment” and “needs dedicated men and women…to get the worst of the worst criminals out of our country.”

Dean Cain: Join ICE To ‘Help Save America’
Dean Cain, who has acted in Christian films such as “God’s Not Dead,” said he likes—and “voted for”—the mission of immigration enforcement. “If you want to help save America, ICE is arresting the worst of the worst and removing them from America’s streets,” Cain said via video. To his social media followers, he said, “We need your help to protect our homeland and our families.”
Cain noted, “Since President Trump took office, ICE has arrested hundreds of thousands of criminals including terrorists, rapists, murderers, pedophiles, MS-13 gang members, drug traffickers, you name it—very dangerous people who are no longer on the streets.”
In the comments, several people noted that ICE applicants must be 37 or younger, prompting Cain to reply, “Perhaps we’ll get that changed.”
The age restrictions have indeed changed. Appearing on Fox News this week, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the ICE age cap was eliminated. “Qualified candidates can now apply with no age limit,” Noem posted. ICE is also heavily recruiting law-enforcement retirees and former federal workers.
Some people who commented on Cain’s post thanked the actor for stepping up. Others said his stance brings “shame to the red cape” worn by Superman.
Cain, who starred in the 1990s TV show “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” spoke out in 2021 when DC Comics announced Superman was bisexual. “I don’t think it’s bold or brave or some crazy new direction,” said the actor. “Brave would be having [Superman] fight for the rights of gay people in Iran, where they’ll throw you off a building for the offense of being gay.”

Cain suggested:
Why don’t they have [Superman] fight the injustices that created the refugees whose deportation he’s protesting? That would be brave. I’d read that. Or fighting for the rights of women to attend school and work and live, and boys not to be raped by men under the new warm and fuzzy Taliban.
Cain also accused the 2025 “Superman” movie of being “woke,” saying it was a “mistake” to portray the superhero as an immigrant.
