On Wednesday (June 11), Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) President Dr. Albert Mohler Jr. prayed for former SBTS student Jennifer Lyell's family following his seminary report at the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) annual meeting. 

Simone Biles apologized to Riley Gaines after Biles criticized her as “truly sick” for Gaines’ advocacy against trans athletes in women’s sports. Gaines accepted Biles’ apology, although she took issue with several of the gymnast’s comments.

Clint Pressley was re-elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) by a large majority Tuesday, June 10, at the SBC’s Annual Meeting. David Morrill, an author at the polemical news site Protestia, challenged Pressley’s re-election but received 408 votes compared to Pressley’s 5,567.

At the 2025 BET Awards, which aired Monday night (June 9), gospel music icon Kirk Franklin was one of four recipients of the Ultimate Icon Award. In his acceptance speech, the prolific gospel artist and choir director thanked his family, listeners, colleagues, and Pastor Tony Evans, “my teacher.”

As Pastor Clint Pressley, president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), looked out on a crowd of nearly 10,000 during the denomination’s annual meeting, he smiled and said, “ Let me begin today by saying: It is really good to be a Southern Baptist.”
