8. Maxim Naumov, Men’s Figure Skating
U.S. men’s figure skater Maxim Naumov had a bittersweet Olympics debut last week, one year after his parents (who were also his coaches) died in a plane crash. Naumov, 24, said teammate Spencer Howe has walked with him through grief and shared the hope of Christ. The skaters attend church together, and Howe hopes to become an Army chaplain. Naumov, who often makes the sign of the cross before performing, said he treasures the baptismal cross he wears around his neck.
