“If that’s your will, let it be. But thank you, God, that you didn’t give me arms and legs, that I can still relate to other people out there who are also waiting for their miracle,” he added. “That there in the greatest revelation of all is when you don’t get a miracle, God can still use you to be one for someone else.”

Amanda Jenkins Has Grown Closer to God Through Her Suffering

Jenkins said his wife has expressed gratitude for what she is going through, noting that it has drawn her closer to God.

“Of all the things that I’ve ever heard you say is the notion of that not having arms and legs, the suffering and the trial that God has put you through or allowed you to go through, has resulted in a closeness to him that you might not have gotten otherwise,” Jenkins said. “In fact, to go even further, miracles that you have seen in people’s hearts all over the world that you would not have seen if you had arms and legs.”

“Just to be clear,” he continued, “My wife will say now she’s grateful for what she’s going through. It has drawn her closer to God. It has taught her things that she would not have thought of or been given insight into otherwise. She literally speaks of it with gratitude at this point.”

“But the thing that I think people need to hear, and this is why your film is so important, is that they think that the biggest miracle would be the healing,” Jenkins said. “The best thing would be the healing. That’s what they’re praying for because that’s what they think would be the number one.”

Jenkins offered some advice to those who are only praying for God’s healing.

“So that’s the one piece that when someone says, ‘I want to pray for you for healing,’ of course they’re well-intentioned, of course it’s beautiful and of course they should pray for healing,” he said, “but also praying for life change because of the suffering. Praying for faith in the midst of suffering.”

He added, “That’s the thing that I wish people were more willing to accept, is that if the healing doesn’t come, can I still be close to God, can I still trust him?”
