Floyd says the Sexual Abuse Task Force provided a “complex contract” for the EC to review, and so far committee members have been unable to decide “the best path forward.” The EC, he says, is “trying to wrestle with accomplishing this process in the right way as they weigh their duty as trustees to conduct the business in a manner which does not bring harm to either the entity they serve or the SBC they serve.”

EC members want to be “sensitive” to abuse survivors and also prevent future cases of abuse, Floyd adds. He expects the impasse to be resolved by next Tuesday, October 5. As EC president, Floyd doesn’t have a vote on this matter. But he says he does “have a vote in heaven from my knees” and is praying for “a miracle that will bring us all together.”
