WA State Agency Grants, Then Revokes Religious Exemptions for COVID-19 Vaccine

In a statement, DFW Public Affairs Director Carrie McCausland said,

A decision was made to no longer accept the inherent risk of a workplace where both staff who are vaccinated and staff who are not need to navigate around each in other in communal areas, hallways, printer/copiers areas, restrooms, etc. for the sake of each other’s safety. This is not staff’s burden to share; it is the employer’s responsibility not to have staff in a situation where they have to decide if it is safe to go to work.

Fox 13 speculates that DFW simply decided to change how it was interpreting existing guidance.

Because the governor’s order requires employees to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 18, Monday, Oct. 4, is the last day for unvaccinated workers to comply by getting the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Some employers in the state have already started sending separation letters to employees who have not yet verified that they are vaccinated.

American church leaders remain divided over the COVID-19 vaccine. Some are handing out religious exemption letters to people, while others say there is no scriptural basis for not getting the vaccine. In an interview on the Stetzer ChurchLeaders Podcast, National Institutes of Health director Dr. Francis Collins says that the vaccine is “an answer to prayer” that “ought to be embraced by believers.”
