A spokesperson for Cru also replied to a request for comment, saying, “While Cru will not be participating in interviews on the subject, we appreciate you seeking the truth on this matter. Information about Cru’s position related to sexuality and gender is available on Cru.org.”

Jared Moore is the author of “The Lust of the Flesh: Thinking Biblically About ‘Sexual Orientation,’ Attraction, and Temptation,” which has received an endorsement from Butterfield. Sprinkle reposted Moore’s clip, commenting, “I’d love to have you as a guest on my @RawTheology podcast to talk about this. Would you be willing to have a conversation? DM me if you’re interested.”

Moore replied, “I’d be happy to.”

While some questioned why Sprinkle is not pursuing Butterfield for his podcast, several expressed that they were encouraged by his desire for a charitable conversation. “Sounds like an interesting convo to me!” said Dr. Sean McDowell.

ChurchLeaders has reached out to Rosaria Butterfield and Preston Sprinkle for comment and will update this article in the event of a reply.
