Actor Danica McKellar gave an Advent devotional Tuesday, Dec. 19, on the Great American Pure Flix YouTube channel, saying that her hope for everyone this Christmas is that they will personally experience God’s “love and…joy.”
“My wish this year for Christmas for everyone watching this video is that you can feel and you will feel the love and the joy that comes from having that relationship with God,” said McKellar.
She explained that the concept of joy is “summed up so perfectly for me” in Philippians 4:6-7, which says:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Danica McKellar: ‘I’ve Always Been a Worrier’
Danica McKellar is an author, mathematician and actor. In addition to appearing alongside Fred Savage in “The Wonder Years,” she has appeared in “The West Wing,” “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Big Bang Theory.”
In April 2022, McKellar revealed that she had come to trust in Jesus. A turning point in her faith journey came when her “good friend,” Candace Cameron Bure, gave her a Bible and invited her to church. Bure is known for playing D.J. Tanner in “Full House,” and both Bure and McKellar recently left the Hallmark Channel for the Great American Family network.
Since putting her faith in Jesus, McKellar has been sharing highlights from her ongoing spiritual journey. In a livestream in September, she said she had been going through the entire Bible with the help of “The Bible Recap,” a podcast created by Tara-Leigh Cobble (another friend of Bure’s). McKellar said the podcast “helps me understand what I’ve just heard.”
