If forced to make the decision, our church from day one has decided that we will offend the self-seeking Christian before the spiritually seeking non-Christian. I personally believe you can only strategically choose to offend either the self-seeking Christian or the spiritually seeking non-Christian.

If there are two principles for bible interpretation that should be hammered home time and again, it would be these two: 1) Let Scripture interpret Scripture; and 2) Don’t take verses/passages out of context.

The imagined paradigm usually includes someone who heralds the evangel, calls for responses from unbelievers, and moves on down the road. While such is one important manifestation of an evangelist’s ministry, it is only part of the calling.

A parable about the church: It’s one thing to be a fan of Mickey Mouse inside an exclusive park where everyone is a fan. It’s quite another to represent him out in the real world. And I wonder, are mouse ears the best way to do so?

Every organization has three basic needs. This philosophy resonates with me and, based on my experience, I can see how it relates to a thriving church, business, or a non-profit.

Christmas is an awesome reminder that God kept His promises from the Old Testament to send a Messiah to rescue His people from their sins. However, since that time, many Christmas myths have been added to the greatest story ever told.

Whether our work is done at home or out in the community, as volunteers or for a paycheck, an essential question has to do with how faith relates to our work.

As Christmas draws near I find myself asking, why did Jesus come as a baby –small and defenseless– and not a man ready to begin His ministry on earth?
