#11. Stefen Wisniewski, Philadelphia Eagles guard
Wisniewski says God got his attention through a car accident when he was in high school. Through that experience, Stefen understood that he had been living a nominal Christian life. The verse that he shares is from Galatians 6:7—God will not be mocked.
“That is what caught my attention. Last week in my fifth and sixth grade Sunday School class, we discussed Matthew 7.21-23. I shared with them that I found this to be a troubling verse, because I grew up going to church. I knew all the Bible stories and I even knew the lessons I was supposed to learn from them—but I was definitely not living my life for God. I knew most of what was expected of my as a ‘believer,’ but truthfully, God had little to no impact on my life. I was living for me, and keeping Him limited to a couple of hours a week that were “church times.” I would have been the one saying, “I grew up in church, I had perfect Sunday School attendance, I was baptized at 8, and I can recount all the stories of the Bible to you,” and God would look at me and say, “I don’t know who you are!”
From that car accident, Stefen Wisniewski decided to take his relationship with God seriously, and allow it to be a cornerstone in every part of his life.
