At age 30, Jalen Ramsey is still one of the league’s top cornerbacks. As he begins a new chapter with the Steelers this year, the athlete and outspoken Christian plans to continue putting his faith into action.

As for his reputation as a trash-talker, Ramsey said he doesn’t worry about people’s perceptions of him. “I just don’t play for humans,” he said. “I play for all glory to God.” But the cornerback does take pride in his God-given abilities, saying he’s been  “blessed…with so much.”

Ramsey, who tithes his income and sends his daughters to a Christian school, said he won’t be a pastor like his grandmother. But he added, “I think anybody can encourage others. Anybody can be a pastor, right? I’ve always wanted to do it in a little bit of a different way.”

Coaching at the high school level might be a better fit for him, Ramsey said. That way, he can share “not only my knowledge about the game of football but about life and about Jesus Christ.”
