6. Kendrick Bourne (TBD)

Ahead of his ninth NFL season, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has been working to fill his own spiritual cup so he can better witness to younger teammates. On a recent episode of the “Sports Spectrum” podcast, the undrafted player out of Eastern Washington talked about stepping up his locker-room discipleship. That involves forming relationships, “leading in the right way,” and “being myself,” said Bourne, because God “wants us to be authentic.”
The 30-year-old athlete grew up in the church but encountered worldly influences in college. While Bourne was partying at a Miami club, somebody put something in his drink, causing him to enter a “spiritual realm” and have an “awakening.” Knowing he had to choose between a party lifestyle and God, Bourne “chose God.”

Bourne is thankful that his family was praying for him and that he knew to call upon God during his time of need. “It was all grace,” he said, adding that God has shifted his mindset so he can be “even more powerful now” in witnessing his faith.
Last week the Patriots cut Bourne, after he reportedly asked to be released from the team.
